Academic Boosters at Rose is comprised of more than 200 families supporting academics at J.H. Rose High School. Academic Boosters sponsor and organize events for students and teachers to encourage, enhance and reward learning. These events are opportunities for parents to participate in the Rose community. In addition, Academic Boosters' membership donations fund grants for teachers to employ innovative teaching methods and programs for students at Rose. The Board of Directors work as stewards to ensure that these funds positively impact learning across all of Rose.
The Board of Directors of Academic Boosters is comprised of four representatives from each class (freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors), as well as several at-large members. The Board meets the first Wednesday of each month, and each Board member works through the efforts of active committees to run initiatives and events. Some duties of Board members occur during school / daytime hours, others in the evening. The time commitment to this Board and its projects is a large one. These Board Members meet regularly for meetings as a large group to discuss and coordinate the projects of the many sub-committees. Because we are so connected with the school and all of its activities we are asked to perform duties outside of scheduled monthly meetings for every month of the term.
Attendance and active participation are necessary and expected of Board Members.
Availability for evening and/or daytime events is advantageous.
Each Spring the Board of Academic Boosters accepts applications for New Representatives.
The 4-year class representative positions are targeted toward parents of incoming freshmen in order to serve a 4-year commitment on the Board.
ANY parent may apply for the 1-year at large commitment.
Each Spring the Rose Appearance Committee accepts applications for New Representatives.
This is the Approval Board for projects and initiatives to improve the appearance of the school and its grounds. This will be a 1-year commitment.
Note: Applicants need not have a student at Rose currently, but must have at minimum a rising freshman. Likewise, current membership in Academic Boosters is not required to apply for a Board position, but will be required for each year of service on the Board.
